My name is Howard and I live in the beautiful state of Washington. I am married to my beloved wife Summer whom with the lords help has blessed me with two precious little daughters. I work as a Correctional Officer for the Washington State Department of Corrections. I started hunting avidly last year and I got hooked. I started hunting for deer with my brother who begged me to go hunting with him for about three years and I finally gave in. We went over to eastern Washington near the town of Cle Elum to hunt Mulies due to the fact that we only have black tails on the western side of the Cascade mountains. when we got over there I could give a rip weather I shot a deer or not, I figured eh, I probably wont get to even see a deer let alone shoot one. So I went and figured at least I get to get out of the house and go camping anyway! Well, we saw deer but I didnt see anything that I could shoot (3x or better) but something did happen those two weekends, I did get something and that was the hunting bug. I dont know what it was, the thrill of the hunt, or what but it was fun!! After the season ended I found myself obsessed with hunting. One night I was sitting at home watching TV when I discovered a little televison show on TNN called Turkey Call and after the first time watching, I was once again hooked. Later that night I found the NWTF web site in the internet and found out that Washington state has three sub species of Turkey in it, the Eastern, the Merriams and the Rio Grande. In April I went Turkey hunting for the very first time and if you have ever hunted Turkey before and you remember the feeling you got when you heard your first gobbler you know what I am talking about "what a rush". The excitement was overwhelming to say the least. I didnt get a turkey this year but I learned alot about them big toms. Maybe next year!
