| Today Yorktown is part of an important national resource known as "Historic Triangle of Yorktown, Jamestown, and Williamsburg." Not too far from York River there is a Fifes and Drums of Yorktown, the history of this corps tell us that the corps was formed in 1976 by the County of York, today has grown to a membership of almost 60 youngsters. During our visit to York River, we found out, to become a member; your age must be between the ages of ten to eighteen. The goal of each membership is to reach senior status, to parade and wear the Regimental uniforms in 18th century's musicians who served in the Continental Army there in Yorktown, Virginia. To reach this goal each member must be able to read music, learn different tunes, and performing frequent public appearances. | ||||||||||||||||||
| York River brings more visitor's every day. For those people who they interest in history and the beauty of nature, Yorktown is a place to visit. Today in many sites you see people are writing about their experience during their visit to Yorktown. Like what (William C. Parker, Public Information Officer) had to say during his visit to Yorktown "visitor's are discovering the charm of this quaint village, with its historical homes, unique shops, and the "On the Hill" art gallery featuring works of local artists." Also I could almost picture what it is like to visit Yorktown, after I read another quiet of (William C. Parker, Public Information Officer), "Walking the narrow streets of Yorktown allows one to become immersed in the 300 years of history the town has to share." It is clear that this town has a strong historical backround. | ||||||||||||||||||
