Description

Purpose

Implying Have your students guess what the reading is going to be about just by reading the title or by an anticipation you have given previously. Make deductions based on personal experience.
Silent reading Read in silence. Have students gain speed in reading.
Skimming Have them read with out paying attention to details, just look for the main idea. Obtain general idea of the content.
Scanning Using cues, have your students to look for specific information. Find specific information.
Segmenting Have your students to either devide the reading in sections or devide it yourself, and have your students to fing the logical order. Acquire faster comprehension.
Word refence Based on questions they look for the answers. Be able to find specific infomation in context.
Inferring meaning Have your students guess the meaning of a word in the context. Understand vocabulary in context.
Sequencing Understand the way the author expressed her/his ideas. Get solid comprehension.
Predicting Students share educated guesses. Check comprehencion of facts.
Concluding They make fact concepts. Share impersonal opinion.
