Do you ever wonder why
They name towns as they do?
I'm driving through "Seven Oaks"
and I say
"Where were they?
I didn't see any oaks.
Did you?"

Is it because they're trying to show
A black and white world from 40 years ago?
Well, who on this shell really knows?
And there's still another
Six signs for shows to go

If I could name a town
I would call it "Hell"
And all the roads would go round and round
Like the life I see that's
Leading nowhere.

And the mayor would dress in black
and preach his dust from a bloody pulpit
and when new people drove through we'd all run and hide
not showing our truth to just Any Town's idiot

because black and white might consist of right
but blood shows the truth more often
but in this world you can scream and scream that song
until you're dead in your forgotten coffin

no one wants to hear
no one wants to see
no one wants to taste, smell or feel
any genuine part of me
