The Corner

two
two walls meeting
in front of this face
this body so
oft-replaced
like a snake sheds its skin
over and over the child begs
her skeleton
to begin
renew
a new
self
a new
she
the strain of it all threatening
to be
the ruin
of me

her left portion
purged in an abortion
of distortion
every time and every day
she can't measure up
to the world
and their way
her right begging
to stay
ready to play
yearning to teach
the other ear and eye
and hand
it's ok

just sway

there in a two-sided dance
both sides forming one ride
not in hatred
or by
happenstance

"teach this body"
she chants to the seam
this body that loves to eat
to sleep, to fuck and mostly
to dream

and the corner of her world
answered in one angular
verse
parting only long enough
to reveal a truthful
universe

as the eaves re-clasped their hands
she saw the future in their
cinder-sands
and the possibilities of every human
to love and care
was grand

teach and grow
reach and show
each can know

teach
and

grow
