Blue Streak

There's a blue streak across the window making
me think it's still daylight outside.
And I stare into something in the glare
something that's only there
when my eyes dare bear

The illusion lives from my eye to the sky
the false daylight belies any truth
behind the reflection, making it easy to lie
hard to find introspection
of a woman's affection on a world that seeks
perfection.

No election with honest ends
be quick instead of qualified
spill some blood to justify
every time you need a ride

A man's land and we all know why
Grandma can't get fed, can't
buy a single medication in this nation

and we cart grandpa off to a nursing home
as soon as the form is stamped by another underpaid drone

I hate people
I really do
They take my space
they tell me what to do

People push me around
People push you too
buttons of arrogance and avoidance
swarming at our new
"Earth Friendly" zoos

So you tell me and I'll tell you
we're damned if we don't
and fucked if we do
