Almost Fatal

There was once a girl
who's name I forget
she died on this floor
full of pain and regret

staining wood as she polished
she tried every day
but the wind mocked her work
until she just slipped away

slipped on the wax
fell from the tax-es
pushing her days

slid down the hall
never catching her fall
crying dry tears for face

and this girl was so brave
enduring as slave
to her invisible god
chasing an empty fog

clouding her brain
with a word gone insane
beating freedom to pain

she slipped on the word
sliced by his sword
pushing ashes to grave

rest in peace dear
no more lies you can hear
no more demons to fear

I gave her my name
told her we are the same
I just recognize the game
better than she
but only barely
because you see
it almost got me

too
