| The Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity has had a storied, although short existence on the Dickinson College campus. The Theta Lambda chapter was chartered on April 29, 1995. Delta Sigma Phi was founded at the City College of New York on December 10, 1899. Delta Sigma Phi was the first fraternity to allow members of various religions. Delta Sig's, as they are known on campus, strive to uphold the motto of "challenging each man to a greater good." Delta Sigma Phi and its brothers are active throughout the campus. Delta Sig contributes over 300 hours to the community each semester with activities such as a Haunted House for Carlisle youth, the Flap Jack snack attack, which raised over a thousand dollars to St. Jude's Hospital and many others. Concerts and dry dance parties held for the campus are part of the Delta Sig tradition. In IM sports, Delta Sig's "Green Crack" teams compete in flag football, basketball, and are the spring 2001 Floor Hockey champions. Brothers hold many leadership positions throughout campus activities. Some famous Delta Sig's are Denver Broncos head coach Mike Shanahan, Leonard Hess (owner of the New York Jets), and many high-ranking members of government. |
| The Alpha chapter was founded in 1850 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. The Epsilon Chapter was founded in 1854 at Dickinson College, located in Carlisle, PA. Phi Kappa Sigma is the oldest fraternity at Dickinson College. The objects of this Fraternity shall be the promotion of good fellowship and the cultivation of social virtues among its members; the protection of the just rights and the advancement of the best interests, present and future, individual and collective, of all those who shall be associated together as members of this Fraternity; the encouragement of good scholarship and breadth of training for its members; and cooperation in the educational and cultural programs of institutions of higher education in which chapters are located. | Sigma Alpha Epsilon was first founded at the University of Alabama on March 9, 1856. It was installed at Dickinson College on October 11, 1890. SAE is the largest national fraternity at this time. SAE participates in a various number of philanthropies. We co-sponsor HUB Nut Riding each fall. This raises money for leukemia. In the spring we sponsor another major philanthropy. This varies from year to year. Last spring we sponsored an event that raised money that was donated to the Hershey Medical Center for cancer research. The brothers also take part in a number of community projects. We also typically sponsor our annual Bermuda Weekend. This is a weekend event that is open to the school. These are just a few of the many events that we sponsor for the school. Many of our brothers currently participate in varsity sports like football, baseball, basketball, tennis, and golf. Famous SAE's include President William McKinley, Troy Aikman, David Spade, Sam Elliot, Phil Jackson, Ed McCaffery, Ken Caminiti, Elliot Ness, Pete Carroll, and Pat McEnroe just to name a few. |
| The Theta Chi Fraternity, established on April 10,1856, colonized the Pi Chapter on April 1, 1916 on the campus of Dickinson College. As its 22 brothers celebrated Pi Chapter's 85th anniversary last spring, the fraternity continued to experience remarkable growth and prosperity. The Theta Chi Fraternity features a very close-knit brotherhood built on virtue and manhood. Theta Chi continues to reap excellence in it philanthropic activity and its family based values as it reaches out into both the Dickinson and Carlisle communities. Upholding everything good about Fraternity life, the brothers of Theta Chi lead the community in an incredibly diverse number of ways, following their motto "Helping Hand". Whether it be as cafeteria supervisors, Varsity sport captains, RA's, CA's, writing center tutors, radio DJ's, tour guides, mailroom attendants, and student senators; with members in the Big/Little program, Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, ROTC, the Dickinsonian, the brothers of Theta Chi's Pi Chapter are at the forefront of most student-led organizations. |
| The Sigma Chi Fraternity was founded at Miami University of Ohio. Sigma Chi was chartered in 1855 as the Omicron Chapter at Dickinson College in 1859. It was the ninth chapter to be formed and is one of the oldest continuously active chapters nationally. Sigma Chi is an international fraternity with undergraduate chapters located all over the United States and Canada with alumni chapters throughout the world. Some famous "Sig's" include: Mike Ditka, David Letterman, Tom Selleck, John Wayne, and Drew Brees. |
| Phi Delta Theta was founded on December 26th, 1848 at Miami University of Ohio and made it's way to the campus of Dickinson College on October 27th, 1880. Today the fraternity now has more than 172 chapters in 43 states and six Canadian provinces. Since its founding in 1848, the fraternity has initiated nearly 203,700 men into the bond of Phi Delta Theta. These men of Phi Delta Theta share a commitment- to the intense bnd of friendship between brothers, high academic achievement, and living life with integrity. The fraternity teaches men that these areas of commitment, those outlined in the bond of Phi Delta Theta, are not to be viewed as separate ideals, but as areas of discipline for daily life. Membership in Phi Delta Theta goes beyond belonging to a social organization. The men of Phi Delta Theta tell of the tremendous support that exists between brothers and how, during their college years, they developed self-confidence, leadership qualities, and a belief in the strength of their abilities. | Since its inception in 1869, the brotherhood of Phi Kappa Psi has remained one of the most esteemed and prestigious fraternities on the Dickinson College campus. The Penn Zeta chapter has continually strived for academic and athletic excellence. Amonst other athletes, Phi Kappa Psi is home to a significant number of lacrosse, football and golf players from all over the country. Phi Kappa Psi is a perennial powerhouse in intramural sports claiming championships in basketball and floor hockey. Phi Psi, its common name, also takes pride in improving the surrounding Carlisle community. The fraternity regularly volunteers at the local Salvation Army and boasts the most successful fundraiser of all time, Toys For Tots. Phi Kappa Psi maintains close contact with Dickinson alumni, creating exciting opportunities for graduates. Numerous graduates have gone on to pursue careers in the Armed Forces, the financial sector, law, and consulting. Notable Phi Psi's are John F. Kennedy Jr., President Woodrow Wilson, Roy Schneider of Jaws, and the great Ron Jeremy. Phi Psi looks forward to continued excellence and success in the new millenium. |
