STUDENT RUBRIC
An A level student will
     do all homework, completing each assignment on time
     be on time to class
     rarely, if ever, miss a class
     work well with each lab partner he or she is assigned to
     read and follow directions with little or no assistance needed
     clearly show all steps of the work needed to solve a problem
     take good class notes (and use them)
     participate actively in all classroom activities
     study a little Chemistry each night, therefore needing only to study an hour or less the night before a test
     make every effort to figure out a problem by him or herself; using the book, warm-ups, notes, etcetera
          as resources
     conduct him/herself appropriately with other students and the teacher at all times
     always work to improve his or her skills
     come in for extra help and/or ask questions in class
as soon as something is unclear
     earn top marks on all tests and quizzes


A B level student will
     complete all or almost all homework, on time
     rarely be tardy or absent
     complete most lab work with little additional guidance
     work well with each lab partner he or she is assigned to
     show all or almost all of the steps needed to solve a problem
     take useful class notes
     participate in all or almost all classroom activities
     study Chemistry most nights, requiring only an hour, or so, to study the night before a test
     make every effort to figure out a problem by him or herself; using the book, warm-ups, notes, etcetera
          as resources
     conduct him/herself appropriately with other students and the teacher at all times
     always work to improve his or her skills
     come in for extra help and/or ask questions in class
as soon as something is unclear
     earn at least 80% or higher on all tests and quizzes


A C level student will
     complete most homework, on time
     rarely be tardy or absent
     complete most lab work with some additional guidance
     work well with each lab partner he or she is assigned to
     show most of the steps needed to solve a problem
     take useful class notes
     participate in most classroom activities
     study Chemistry some nights, requiring more than an hour to effectively study the night before a test
     make every effort to figure out a problem by him or herself; using the book, warm-ups, notes, etcetera
          as resources
     conduct him/herself appropriately with other students and the teacher at all times
     usually work to improve his or her skills
     come in for extra help and/or ask questions in class only when there is a test imminent
     earn at least 70% or higher on all tests and quizzes


A D level student will
     complete some homework, on time
     sometimes be tardy or absent
     complete most lab work with some additional guidance
     work well with each lab partner he or she is assigned to
     show some of the steps needed to solve a problem
     take poor class notes, rarely, if ever reading them afterwards
     participate in some classroom activities
     study Chemistry sometimes, requiring more than an hour to effectively study the night before a test
     make little effort to figure out a problem by him or herself, incorrectly believing that copying it from
          someone will help him or her to understand what is being copied
     conduct him/herself appropriately with other students and the teacher at all times
     sometimes work to improve his or her skills
     earn at least 60% or higher on all tests and quizzes


An F level student will
     complete some homework, on time
     often be tardy or absent
     complete some lab work with little additional guidance
     work minimally well with each lab partner he or she is assigned to
     show some of the steps needed to solve a problem
     take poor or no class notes
     participate rarely in classroom activities
     not study Chemistry often, if at all
     make little or not effort to figure out a problem by him or herself, forgetting about available resources
     act inappropriately with other students and the teacher
     rarely work to improve his or her skills
     earn 65% or below on more than a couple of tests and quizzes
