Lab and Test Skills (continued)
SECOND SEMESTER
Second semester builds on what you should have learned first semester.  We will not spend time
going over the skills you should already have--how to change grams to moles, convert from one kind of
unit to another, etc. If you did not assimilate these concepts fully, second semester will be much more
difficult for you.
If you are having a problem with density (grams/cm3 or ml) check out Chapter 1, p.26-27 and problems 52-63 at the end of the chapter. You should have your notes about density still and you should
check out your old homeworks from this chapter, as well.
This is how you should approach anything you are missing from the first semester. Look up the
topic in the index, check out the pages listed, look at any old notes or homeworks you have on the subject, come in for additional help during Support or work outside of classtime with a student who is doing well
with that particular topic.
You should do this as soon as you hit a troublesome topic--do not wait and think that you'll get it eventually.  Chemistry keeps moving. You have to work to be sure that you do not fall behind.
