Aquarium Setup
|
The Red Jewel is territorial cichlid that likes
plenty of cover such as properly arranged rocks and
drift woods. Although this fish digs, plants in the
tank wil not be harmed and will provide shelter.

|
Feeding
|
H. bimaculatus is an omnivore.
This fish is easy to feed and will take both live and
prepared foods such as worms, shrimps, insects, small
feeder fishes, peas, pellets, flakes, sticks and
beefhearts.

|
Compatibility
|
The Red Jewel is fairly okay for similar-sized cichlid
community tanks. This fish is able to fend for itself
even with larger fish if there are enough hiding
places.
