H. nicaraguensis requires
hiding places and territories such as properly
arrange rocks forming caves and fissures. Plants may
be attacked and destroyed.

Feeding
|
H. nicaraguensis is omnivorous
and will readily take both live and prepared foods
such as insects, peas, fruits, worms, flakes, pellets,
sticks and detritus.

Compatibility
|
This cichlid is not as aggressive as the other Central
American cichlid and can be kept in community with
tankmates that can fend for itself but not too
aggressive. Young specimen can be very aggressive but
decreases as the fish matures.
