Halloween
Halloween is met with mixed feelings in the USA.  For centuries, Christians have honored their deceased co-followers of Christ.  Traditionally this observance took place on November 1, also known as All Hallows' Day (All Saints' Day).  Thus the night before this was known as All Hallowed Eve.  Liturgical denominations such as Roman Catholic, Episcopal and Lutheran still observe All Saints' Day.  Contrary to some historians who contend that as early as the 7th century, the church moved All Saints Day to Nov. 1 in order to 'Christianize' the pagan festival, Samhain, that honored the dead on on Oct. 31.
