The table
Updated: April 10, 2002

The table was a piece of glass of overall dimensions approximately 30 cm by 30 cm. One piece of glass was 2.40 mm thick. The other piece was 15.50 mm thick. The glass was supported by thin triangular columns made out of corrugated cardboard, which are glued to the glass. The columns hold the top surface of the glass 15 cm above the lab bench.
Based on qualitative observations, the coefficient of restitution for the 15.50 mm thick table is much greater than for the 2.40 mm table. Beyond that, the coefficient of restitution has not been estimated. It is not straightforward to measure the coefficient of restitution for a cylindrical object.
