Recording the outcome of each roll
Updated: April 10, 2002
The automated dice rolling mechanism saves an image
of the silhouette of the die after each roll. A computer program
is later used to analyze each image to determine whether the die
landed on end or on edge. A third possibility is that the die
lands in such a way that it is leaning against the wall, but the
number of cases in which this happens is usually very small.
