| When not "crazy" in play, Divot is a thinking corgi ... a very smart boy |

And here he is enjoying a tender moment with his new sister, Katie. |
Divot K. Mulligan came to live with us on October 29, 2000. An 8 month old, red-headed tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi, he had not learned how to control his mouth. But he has learned quickly. When he even thinks about it, I simply shake my finger at him and say, "you know that is a no." He then goes down, lifts his head, and argues with me just to let me know he doesn't care for the "new order." And we have done some serious alpha rolls to impress upon him who the alpha is in this household ... and he acknowledges my alpha status by rolling over onto his back submissively whenever I feel he needs to be challenged (read: when he is getting full of himself). That said, he is really a sweet little boy, and he and Katie are getting along fabulously. He loves to chase her, and she chases in turn, but she easily runs him down due to her Jolly Ball stamina! He always takes her toys from her, and she lets him, then gives me this look as if to say, "did you see what he just did?" She is such a sweet soul. They also eat side-by-side, with no food possessiveness, but they seem to understand that each has his/her own bowl. Divot has adjusted well to the cats. He is in awe of Miss Kitty after getting blasted with a can of compressed air (not in the face as I didn't want to damage his eyes) when she hissed at him. Mr. Mitts refuses to be budged by him, so he is viewed as a cat not to be messed with. And Boogie, poor boy, because he runs, is harassed ... but I expect that one day soon Boogie will put him in his place. That said, Boogie deserves it since he is known to harass Miss Kitty.
