| Mary Lyn Dias has been singing since the age of 7. Her father, Tony Dias, once with "Maddox Bros. & Rose, was also a songwriter for such artists as Roy Acuff. At the age of 15 she was performing with recording group "Brush Arbor" and signed to her first deal. Her single release on "Edge Records", ("I Saw the Light") got raves from critics and went to #25 on Cashbox. During these years she hung around local bluegrass festivals and sang with her brother (Dobro player, David Dias) and the bands that he performed with at the time. She later went on to tour with Hoyt Axton as a backup singer from 1980 to 1983. Again critics as well as audiences loved her, and it was rare that a review failed to give special mention to Mary Lyn's powerful jailbait version of "You Ain't Woman Enough To Take My Man". Mary was able to take part in the recording of, and appears on the "Hoyt Axton Live" cd. She has done numerous demo work for other writers, such as, Jeff Silbar (Wind Beneath My Wings), Larry Cordle, Teddy Gentry, Jan Buckingham and more. In 1992, MCA artist Marsha Thornton had a title cut and video with "Maybe The Moon Will Shine", a song Mary co-wrote with producer Johnny Pierce. Also in 1992, while writing and showcasing, one of her tapes found its way to producer Pete Anderson. Pete was impressed enough to ask Mary Lyn to appear on his project "A Town South Of Bakersfield Vol. 3. Mary is still writing, performing and her own cd " I'll Introduce You To My Heart" )is now available to you. I think you will agree that Mary Lyn Dias is an artist that the greater world of country/bluegrass music lovers deserves to hear! |
