Auckland sweeps Tauranga tennis tourney

The Auckland Filipino Tennis Association stamped its authority in lawn tennis as it won all the titles at stake in the recent labour weekend reunion tournament in Tauranga.
Rene Dulay won the men�s singles category with AFTA president Jojo Valero coming in second. Butch Enriquez was the men�s singles plate champion with Gil Domingo as runner-up. In the team competition, Auckland scored a come from behind victory as Butch Enriquez, Cynthia Marcelo, Paul Clamor and Jess Gregorio overcame the grit and perseverance of the combined Palmy / Taupo team of Mayette Emana, Alan dela Cruz, Edwin Silerio and Ramil Madangeng.
On a sad note, AFTA treasurer Butch Enriquez and wife Mini will be going to Gold Coast for good. We wish them the best and they will surely be missed by AFTA.
