Filipino nurses mourn colleague's death

A very sad news for one of our "kababayan" who was supposed to have finished by 9 December his training as a nurse here in New Zealand.

Dale Degay, 29 was found dead in the bath tub at an undisclosed motel in the Waikato region. Degay allegedly committed suicide by slashing his wrist which was a big shock to his colleagues whom he spent the whole morning with that unfortunate day of 7 December 2004.

A Filipino nurse and neighbour from Mt. Province in the Philippines who knows Degay quite well said that there were no signs that Degay was troubled or was depressed that would lead him to take his life as such. Degay was actually quite excited about February next year which he and his girlfriend in the Philippines have set as their wedding month.

According to our source, Degay was very reserved and not much into talking a lot about his problems. So his colleagues have just been left to wonder what was truly bothering him. His remains will be flown back to the Philippines soon as his brothers arrived in New Zealand. Let us all pray that he may rest in peace.
