Summer Vacation, June 2006

cousinst

We wanted Taylor to meet relatives and friends back in the Mid-west. We traveled 3,553 miles in 14 days and had a ball. We called it our “Cousins” vacation because of all the cousins Taylor got to meet. We went from Arizona to Nebraska, then to Kansas, then Missouri, then New Mexico and back to Arizona. Taylor was pretty good in the car. We had a portable DVD player and stopped early each day on the road at motels that had pools.

Our first stop was at the dinosaur museum near Holbrook AZ. Taylor is fascinated with rocks but this was ridiculous.

The Evergreen motel and RV park in Pratt is one or our favorite places to stop.

Our first stop in NE was at Mead. Taylor had a chance to visit with her Great Grandma Jo, Grandma Barb and Grandpa Doug (who was grilling dinner when this picture was taken).

Our next stop was in Roca NE to see our old house. While we were there Taylor got to meet Juan, the foster child of the folks who now own the house, and see her mother’s old room. This stop brought back a lot of good memories of our days in Roca.

In Lincoln we went to the Mall where they have an indoor carousel. Taylor loved it, she had never been on one before. While we were in Lincoln we tried to visit as many of our friends as we could in two days. Unfortunately we could not get to see as many as we would have liked.

Next stop was cook NE and dinner with some of our friends there.

Then it was on to Olathe KS to visit Taylor's two half brothers Jessie and Justin.

From KS it was on to St. Louis to visit cousin Frankie and his kids. We stayed with Chris (Frankie’s son) and Leslie. They have a baby boy Alex who Taylor just loved. It was her first time to play the part of “Big Sister”

From St Louis we went to Albuquerque NM where Taylor got to visit the Zoo with her cousins CJ and Courtney and their sister Elise.

On the way home to AZ we stopped at a rest area where Taylor practiced the winking she had just learned.
