leading lawyer and judge. Gallant soldier and officer of the Confederacy. Descended from Welch/Wales ancestors. Lt Colonel and Colonel in 24th TN Regiment Infantry. Wounded in Shiloh. 1851 addmitted to Maury CO, TN Bar. Represented Hickman County in Legislature. 1877 appointed Circuit Judge by Governor. 1887 elected Franklin County Legislature. Most prominent man and contributed to development of TN and Franklin County. Highly esteemed. Had extensive farming interests.
