Hooray for Fall!

Dear Parents,

The children had a great time at the Fire Station last Friday! We all got to tour the fire station and climb on the fire trucks. We really enjoyed watching our first-grade firefighters show us how to put out a fire!

Last week we began our first reading test as well as CogAt testing. The CogAt tests are pretty tough, but would you believe, the children are enjoying them? Go figure. We'll wrap up our tests this week.

Also this week, we begin our Fall theme unit. As part of this unit, we will explore leaves and pumpkins, learn about bats and spiders and build a scarecrow.

I'm so pleased that so many of you are taking advantage of our Scholastic book program. Not only does this keep your child reading and interested in books, but helps our classroom as well. For every book ordered we receive bonus points that I can use to purchase new books for the classroom. Keep those orders coming!

Speaking of orders, please have October orders in by this Friday, October 17th.

Parents, I've noticed that a few of the children are being dropped off quite early in the morning and are waiting in the hall unsupervised. Please do not drop off your child prior to 8:10 a.m.

Stay tuned for details about Halloween and All Saints Day activities.

Have a Great Week!

Ms. Kopilchack
