Dear Parents,
Happy autumn! Yes, fall is finally here! The weather will soon
be changing; time for all those runny noses. Please make sure
that your child gets plenty of rest and brings a sweater or jacket
to school on cool days. Here at school we'll continue to do "germ
patrol" (use antibacterial wipes on our desks) and keep
our hands clean.
With the arrival of fall, we begin our first theme unit: Apples.
We'll learn about Johnny Appleseed and do all sorts of apple-related
activities. If any of you moms (or dads) have a quick, easy apple
recipe that you'd like to share with the children, please let
me know.
The children are doing a good job at our learning centers. Our
centers include a reading center, writing, computers, math, poetry
and learning games. We'll be adding a science center and listening
center soon.
Thank you so much for keeping up with the wordbooks. Once the
short vowel book is complete, your child will begin reading books
at his/her appropriate level.
A few reminders - Folders and wordbooks travel back and forth
to school every day. Library books are to be returned on Wednesdays.
On Friday, please make sure your child has his/her gym uniform
and tennis shoes.
