We Celebrate and Honor Moms!



Dear Parents,

This week we're busy getting ready for our Mother's Day Program. We hope you all can make it! We can't wait to honor you!
Also this week is our May Crowning Ceremony which takes place immediately after Wednesday morning Mass.
Here's a list of other important dates to remember:

 5/10  Ann Arbor Hands-on Museum
 5/10-14  Buy One Get One Free Book Fair -
 (Our class will visit on Tues. 5/11)
 5/19  School Performance of "Honk"
 5/26  Field Day - Grades 1 - 4
 6/2  First Grade Picnic - Hess-Hathaway Park
Of course, there may be a few more "surprises" along the way. I'll keep you posted.

This week's activities:

Reading/Writing
Our story this week is "New Shoes for Silva." This is a realistic story that introduces us to another country and culture. We'll also take a look at story progression, concepts of time and past and present tense verbs.

Phonics/Word Wall Activities
We begin learning consonant digraphs this week to include th, wh, sh and ch.

Math
This week we wrap up addition and subtraction facts to 20. We'll also explore concepts of time and will learn how to tell time to the hour and half-hour.

Science
We begin our weather unit this week. We'll be doing lots of hands-on activities to support this theme.

Religion
This week we honor Mary and will participate in the May Crowning on Wed., May 5th.

Homework - Study spelling words and attached activities.
