Dear Parents,
Hope you all had a nice Easter
break. It's hard to believe but the school year is almost over!
I am happy to announce that we exceeded our goal to read 7500
minutes during the month of March. So, as promised, we celebrated
with an ice cream party today, Way to go kids!
We can hardly wait for our field trip to the Ann Arbor Hands-On
Museum. Attached is a note and permission slip regarding our
trip. Please return the permission slip, along with the required
fees, by Friday, April 23rd.
Moms, you'll be receiving a "formal" invitation to
our Mother's Day Program later this week. In the meantime, please
mark your calendars for Friday, May 7th at 1:00 p.m. Please make
every effort to attend; it means so much to your child.
Plans are underway for our First Grade Picnic on Wednesday, June
2nd, at Hess-Hathaway Park. Expect more information coming your
way any day now.
Have a great week!
Ms. Kopilchack

explore point of view and imagination.
We will use our own imaginations in our writing this week.
Phonics/Word Wall Activities
This week we'll learn our
S blends and final blends.
We continue to practice our Word Wall words (sight words) and
use them in our writing.
Math
We are currently learning addition
and subtraction facts to 20. Parents, please continue to practice
math facts with your child. Your child should have math facts
to 20 memorized by second grade.
Science
This week we begin our
Earth Science studies. We will begin by observing and classifying
rocks and by conducting experiments to understand the concept
of weathering. Please have your child collect 4 to 5 rocks of
different shapes, sizes, textures and color for our hands-on
explorations.
Religion
We begin our unit on the
Holy Spirit and will learn about the gifts of the Spirit.
