Dear Parents,
Well, we set our traps and placed
them around the room in the hopes of catching a leprechaun. We'll
find out tomorrow! We hear that they are tricky little fellas,
but are known to drop a few "gold" coins here and there.
Leprechaun or not, we'll celebrate by being Irish for the day,
We'll also hear the story of St. Patrick and enjoy some yummy
green treats!
Reading logs are starting to come in for the month of March.
Remember, just 15 minutes a night for each child will help us
reach our goal.
I'm still looking for parent volunteers to come in and read to
the children.
"Marching" right along, we continue to observe Lent
and are trying to follow in Jesus' footsteps by being kind to
others. As we move toward Easter, we will learn about the Stations
of the Cross and about God's gift of new life.
Speaking of new life, we are looking forward to spring and such
activities as planting seeds and watching caterpillars turn into
butterflies. It won't be long now . . .
Have a great week!
Ms. Kopilchack

This week's activities:
Reading/Writing
Our story this week is
Seven Blind Mice. This story introduces us to a "new"
genre, the fable. In reading this story, we will learn how to
make and revise predictions based on picture clues and visualization.
We will also explore the moral of the story.
We're working very hard on our writing and will soon begin writing
our own "Bunny Tales."
Phonics/Word Wall Activities
This week we will learn
the spelling patterns that make the long E sound. We'll also
be reviewing our word wall words.
Math
We continue our Money unit this week.
We are learning the value of coins and how to count them. We'll
reinforce this concept at Money Centers.
Science
Our Health unit continues
this week. So far we've learned about the Food Pyramid and eating
healthy foods. This week we'll learn about exercise and keeping
our bodies strong and healthy.
Religion
We are currently learning
about the Catholic Church and what it means to be a Christian.
