Dear Parents,
Hope your winter break was fun
and relaxing! I'm sure the kids (and some parents) are happy
to be back to school!
Our Valentine's Party was great fun. We exchanged Valentines,
played games and made a Valentine craft. We also enjoyed yummy
treats! A big thanks to our party moms!
We began sharing our president reports before break and will
continue this week. So far, they've been great!
We are leaving our physical science studies for a while to begin
our unit on Health. Our studies will include the 5 senses, healthy foods, and taking care of our bodies. If you are in
the health profession (i.e. doctor, nurse, dentist) and would
like to visit our classroom, please let me know. We'd love to
have you!
We are nearing the end of our third quarter. Before you know
it, the school year will be over. If you'd like to meet with
me to discuss your child's progress, please contact me. I'd be
happy to meet with you. I am available most days after school.
Have a great week!
Ms. Kopilchack

This week is a review week.
We will review all of the vocabulary, skills and reading strategies
we've learned over the last several weeks. We'll take our unit
test on Thursday.
We continue to develop our writing skills through our journal
writing and at our writing center.
Phonics/Word Wall Activities
We begin learning the long
"u" sound and the spelling patterns that make the sound
(u_e, _ui_ , and _ue).
We'll be doing lots of fun activities
to review our word wall words (i.e. sight words) including "Guess
the Word" and Word
Wall Relay.
Math
Our focus this week will be on number
patterns. We'll explore number patterns using a 100's chart and
learn what comes before, after and between. We'll also learn
greater than and less than ( > and < ) to compare
numbers.
Science
We begin our Health unit
this week and will start with the 5 senses.
