Catholic Schools Week

Dear Parents,

Catholic Schools Week is always a fun time at OLR. I trust that you all received the schedule of this week's happenings.

Of course, today was Muffins with Mom and Slipper Day. Tomorrow is Donuts with Dad and Lunch with Grandparents/Parents Day. The children always look forward to these special events; we hope you can participate.
Don't forget this Friday is Mission Jean Day, Red, White and Blue Day and Wacky Hair Day. It's also a half day so your child will have to be picked up as there is no bus service that day.

It has been brought to my attention that many hot lunch order forms are not being filled out correctly. Please cut apart all weekly forms and write your child's name and room number on each form. Simply writing your child's name and room number on the envelope is not sufficient. Make sure you enclose either cash or a check. Finally, note the due date on each form; all late orders will be returned to you.

Report cards went out today. I'm very proud of the progress we've made. I hope you are too! Please be sure to praise your child's efforts. First grade is hard work! As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact me here at school or via e-mail:  [email protected]

Have a great week!

Ms. Kopilchack

This week's activities:

Reading/Writing
Our story this week is Any Kind of Dog. This story will help us learn how to make comparisons and inferences.

Last week we wrote about why we love our Catholic school. Be sure to check out our hall display.

Phonics/Word Wall Activities
We continue learning our long vowel sounds. This week we begin the long "I" sound and spelling patterns.

We'll add six new words to our Word Wall this week. Our Word Wall continues to be an important tool in our writing.

We will wrap up our unit on data and graphing before moving on to place value.

We are also continuing with our winter theme activities.
