Special Edition                                                            August 21, 2003

1st Grade Information

Dear Parents,

I'd like to introduce you to "Ms. K's Classroom News," a weekly newsletter that will be sent home with your child every Monday beginning next week. The purpose of this newsletter is to keep you informed of our weekly activities and important information regarding our classroom and school.

The following is information you need to know as we begin the 2003 2004 school year.

Arrival and Departure
Walking your child to the classroom door the first few days of school is perfectly acceptable, but allowing them the independence to walk in by themselves, starting the first full day, is expected.

On days when there is NO bus service, regular bus riders will exit through the front doors as usual to meet their rides home. Car riders will always exit through the back door near the church. Please pick your child up at the door.

Supplies
Please send your child's supplies marked with his or her name as soon as possible. Send only the supplies listed on the supply list. First graders are not allowed to have binders, pencil sharpeners, or pens at school.

Also, please label all uniforms, gym clothes, lunchboxes and school bags.

Fees
Please send in the classroom fees in an envelope labeled with your child's name and room number. All checks should be made payable to myself or to "cash." Do not make checks payable to O.L.R. Please follow these procedures any time you send money to school for classroom functions.

Snacks
First graders have snack time each morning on full days. Please start sending in nutritious snacks (fruits, vegetables, crackers etc.) starting next Monday. Please NO cookies, candy or particularly messy items.

Orientation
We will have a school wide orientation night on Wednesday, August 27th at 7:00 p.m. Your attendance is mandatory. During orientation, I will introduce you to our first grade curriculum, classroom procedures and will answer any questions you may have.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all!
