Sugar Cookies

(Diane’s Mother’s cookies)

 

2/3 cups Shortening

2/3 cups Sugar

2 cups Flour

1 tsp Cinnamon

1 tsp Vanilla

½ tsp Salt

2 Eggs

2 tsp Baking Powder

 

Place shortening in a  large bowl. Add sugar and stir until smooth. Add beaten eggs and vanilla and beat until smooth. Mix the remaining dry ingredients together in a separate bowl. Add dry mixture to the wet mixture a little at a time. Blend together until it becomes smooth dough.

 

Refrigerate until firm (approx. 2 hrs). Preheat oven to 375*

 

Remove cookie dough from fridge and roll into balls. Place balls on lightly greased cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

 

When cookies have cooled, you can frost them or leave them plain. Use sprinkles to add colour.
