PLEASE ALLOW TIME FOR GRAPHICS TO LOAD!

Welcome to my pet page....meet my wonderful critters....they are a BIG part of the family! I want to say right off the bat that I believe in getting your pets neutered and spayed. It is our DUTY as responsible pet owners! I think that this one small way to do our part to help make this a better world for all the little creatures. I firmly believe in this and I also believe it makes the animal a more loving pet. That said....lets go look at my babies!

Rusty This is Rusty...Born January 23, 1991, he is now 13 years old and when I got him he only weighed 1 3/4 pounds...Now he weighs over 40 pounds!! He was supposed to be a SMALL lap dog (he is part Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and part poodle).... Don't ask ME what happened!!!!! =)

By the way, Rusty was diagnosed with canine pancreatitis in May 1999, at first, I was devastated to learn this, but I did alot of research on the internet and I also got a second opinion and I am trying the diet route, it seems to be working wonderfully. He can no longer have people food of ANY kind and he has to eat Science Hill Canine ID which is not as tasty as Kibbles n Bits but he has adjusted well. Now that my boys are grown, he's my BABY BOY (well one of them, anyway~~)...

More photos of Rusty. He was just a pup in these photos. Trixy just BARELY put up with him in those days!

Skittles This is Josh and Skittles....the cat we adopted from the the animal shelter....she RUNS the house!!

Skittles

Skittles loves to drink water out of our kitchen sink! She is a goofy kitty!

Lost Kitten

This is not a picture of one of my cats but it is exactly how Salem was when I plucked him out of the tree....except Salem was a little smaller.

Salem

This is Salem...and I love this cat more than I EVER thought it would be possible. I love all animals but I have always considered myself a "dog person" until I fell in love with "my love bug".

I found him October of 2000 (bad month for black cats to be unprotected and on their own). I was on my way to work and I happened to look over and saw this tiny black THING stuck up in a tree. He was barely as month old, we figured he was chased up there by a dog or something. I, of course, not KNOWING what in the WORLD I was going to do with this baby....turned around and took it back home. I couldn't take him in the house...I have 2 dogs, 2 cats and 3 birds...and I would be at WORK all day! So I fixed him up a little spot on the front porch where he could not get away and fed and watered him and started back on my way to work. My mind was already churning trying to figure out a good explanation to tell my loving husband about our NEW addition to the family...because I already KNEW he was meant for us. He is a WONDERFUL man but I already had a houseful of animals! Well......he took over our hearts (my hubby's too) and we adopted him and he has taken over as the MANCAT of the house! Of COURSE we got him neutered! Skittles was not at ALL happy with his appearance but she has since adapted and even learned to like his presence. He has been a GOOD influence on her because now she has learned how to PLAY. She had never played before.

Salem

Another pic of my black baby..you would not BELIEVE how loveable black cats are! I really hate all the bad rumors and wives tales that there are about black cats being bad luck and all....these cats are big loveable LUGS! I want EVERY black homeless cat that I see now......but my husband has put his foot down now. :-(

This is a bad habit Salem picked up when he was but a wee kitten. We can't seem to break him of the habit!! My hubby hates it when I takes photos of the act. hehehe

Salem and Skittles

This is Skittles' and Salems' favorite sleeping spot! They also play here too. (At the moment, Skittles is high on catnip!!)

Salem and Tiki

This is Tiki, the ferret, he arrived on my front door step begging for a home. He lived with me for a while, but my oldest son begged for him and I let him go live with Will. But in the meantime, Salem and Tiki became very good friends and when Will comes to visit, they reunite like it was old times!

Salem and Freckles

This is the infamous Salem with Freckles...they LOVE to play and cuddle together. Salem and Freckles are good friends.

Well, I said when I got Salem that my sweet hubby wasn't going to let me have any more pets.......well......I lied......I managed to talk him into ONE MORE...we have a new addition to the family. In November of 2003, I found Skipper on http://www.petfinder.com. My husband HATES when I go to this site....LOL.....there is always a critter that pulls at my heart calling my name. I wish I had a million dollars, I would give the MAJORITY of it to the animals if it were up to me. Anyway, back to my Skipper....what a dog we got! I was looking at the cockapoos and Wheaten Terriers on petfinder.com....I am amazed at how many there are out there that look like my Rusty. And here pops up Skipper....calling my name....he was at the Houston Pound. You know that they don't keep them very long before they get put to sleep and he had already been there for 5 days....enough said. Here is the picture that stole my heart:

Skipper at the Houston Pound...BEFORE I rescued him!!!!! This was the picture that STOLE my heart!

Skipper and RustyRusty and Skipper....they look like they could be BROTHERS!

Skipper and his famous teethSkipper and his famous teeth (His bottom teeth stick out like a Shih tzu or a Lhasa Apso and everyone LAUGHS at him because he is so funny looking. He also has a huge bottom lip and it is really cute, plus in this picture he had a long beard and it looked really funny too.....I think these characteristics make him original and unique and not like everyone elses dog. I think his teeth are cute as long as they are not hurting him....and I guess since other dog breeds live just fine with these type of teeth...there should not be a problem. He has WONDERFUL manners and minds better than any dog I have ever owned. He takes food from your hand VERY gentle and you barely feel him get the treat.

No one can take Rustys place....but Rusty is a stubborn old coot and if he decides he does not want to do something that is the way it is! Skipper is 4 1/2 years old and Rusty is 13 1/2 years old.....and I try to keep the more active Skipper out of grumpy Rusty's way.....Rusty IS the BOSS and Skipper knows that.....LOL It is a hoot at our house, never a DULL MOMENT.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

RustyMy darlin' Rusty

My Rusty.....my FAITHFUL COMPANION for FOURTEEN years!! He passed over to Rainbow Bridge on February 18, 2005.

I feel like I have lost a part of me. I hurt so BAD right now..but I know that Rusty is not hurting anymore. I just miss him so much. Every room in this house has memories of him. I could not make a step without him being under my feet...he is not there anymore, I keep looking for him. Rusty is playing with Trixy now....waiting for me to join them when my time comes. I can not wait to see your beedy little eyes again....or to feel you lick my face and give me kisses....oh I miss your kisses already...you were such a good dog. That is why it hurts so much now....not having you with me, making me laugh. You gave me kisses up to the very end. I was holding you in my arms, me and your daddy Mike....he loved you too and he misses you too.

We will see you again Rusty, hold a spot for us in heaven. Until we get there you and Trixie and Casper and Duke and Dixie and Chloe....and all the other JUST AS IMPORTANT pets that have been in our life...you all wait for us......I can not imagine heaven without my pets with me.

This is Trixie....my 14 year old terrior. She's so YOUTHFUL looking, isn't she? She was a member of our family since she was about six months old. She died in my arms in October 2000. It was a great loss for me and also the family and I will never forget her. I still miss her presence even now....I can still hear her at times.

[Mike and Trixy] This is my husband Mike with Trixie! Didn't they look adorable together??

I ran across this site because I was getting a hankering for another BLACK CAT (can you believe it??) Anyway, on this site, you can look for want you want in YOUR area....it is amazing and a very much needed service. I applaude their service and time. Please take a moment and check it out.....it is REALLY cool!
