Vancouver Mid-Island Community is a seaside people. Who can stroll the vast  beaches at Tofino on a breezy March day; sit on the edge of a rolling lawn at  the Diamonds for a picnic lunch, gaze at the sea and discuss Mark 7 until  it is ready to be formed and shaped for a Sundays homily; play at the  beach in Parksville with grandchildren and children, ever waiting for the tide  to come in and possess our castle art?
We caravan from home to home on the Island highway, also known as the  Trans-Canada #1. It is from here that we greet our soul groups from Ottawa,  Germany, Victoria or wherever they are coming from to welcome into our midst for  a little while.
It is via the fibre-optic highway that we hear from so many people, calling,  faxing, phoning, and writing: the news of Benjamin's birth in Saskatoon,  the death of Liam in Trenton, the folks at the cottage relaxing, and the safe  arrival of family and friends at home again.
Over the last years our community has grown closer, waiting to share and  serve, always there for each other in our multi-faceted tasks, always open to  hearing the news of other communities. All in all, we have belonged to the  institutional family, the reformation/renewal family, and now we are simply  journeying together. This community by the sea and the Trans-Canada is walking  together in heart and spirit.
