"Baby I'm telling you, you'll enjoy this surprise," Matt Marshburk said, smiling at Julia Pearson, whose hand he was holding as he led her through the unknown area.
"Matt, you know I don't like surprises," she giggled, following behind him.
"Well, you'll like this one."
When they finally came to a stop, Matt stood behind Julia & kissed her neck softly. "You ready for your surprise?" he asked, rubbing her shoulders softly.
"Yes, take this blindfold off," she giggled.
He smiled &, untied the bandana from around her head, letting her eyes adjust to the night around them.
Julia smiled as she looked around & took in the sight. They were at a riverside park & one of the tables had been made up like the kind of table you would find in a fancy bistro, & there were plates of food on the table & two candles had been places on the table, one on each side of the plates & two glasses of what looked to be champagne was sitting next to the plates.
"Do you like?" she heard him ask from behind her as he wrapped his arms around her waist, laying his chin on her shoulder.
"I love... But, is that champagne?" she asked, turning her head to look at him.
"Yes, it is. The finest & most expensive I could find."
"But Matt... We're not old enough to be drinking... How'd you get it?"
"Connections," he answered, unwrapping his arms from around her waist, walking with her to the table. "Besides, it's not like we're going to drink a lot of it..."
Julia & Matt sat down across from each other & she smiled at him. He looked up & returned the smile.
"So, when did you do all of this?" Julia asked as they walked along the pier's overhang.
"I didn't. I had my friends do it while I went to get you. I just told them how I wanted everything set up," he smiled.
"It was really sweet of you, Matt. Thank you for this all."
"It was no problem baby."
Matt slowly came to a stop & Julia stopped as well. Matt wrapped his arms around her waist & kissed her softly, but with a slight meaning. But Julia was too caught up by the champagne to catch onto the meaning or to resist it.
