A few hours had gone by since Justin had left Caitlin to herself & when he still hadnt returned from stepping off the ledge, she felt a small bit of worry. She stood up from her swing & made her way to the ledge. She spread her own wings & stepped off the ledge, gliding down to the bus. Once shed landed by the door, she folded her wings, leaving them out, & made her way onto the bus. Shed never been on it before, but she was guessing that Justin had changed it all to better suit his time there.
As she turned to walk down the aisle, she saw Justin on the floor with his wings wrapped around himself. When she saw this, she felt a pang of sympathy for the poor guy.
She walked closer & waved her hand over him & he slowly disappeared, leaving her to herself. She looked at the four gentlemen & the pug pup that all filled their spots of the room. Holding her hand out flat, she focused her energy on making her book appear, open already to an empty page. Who are these men? she questioned in her mind. She read the words as the text came to the page. These 4 men are Justins friends. The one who has braids in his hair is Christopher Alan Kirkpatrick, the blonde is James Lance Bass, the other man with the brown eyes is Joseph Anthony Fatone Jr., & the last man is Joshua Scott Chasez.
What about the dog?
The dogs name is Busta. He belongs to Chris... Though he wasnt there when the accident took place, Justin brought him here for Chris.
Caitlin sighed & closed the book, causing it to vanish. Hes such a compassionate person. I wish he & I couldve been friends when I was alive...
Back at the house, Justin slowly came to in his bed. For a moment he wondered how he got there, but then he figured it out. Caitlin must have come looking for me, he thought to himself. As he grabbed his book from the bed stand, he opened it to a marked empty page. Can you show me things, instead of just telling me? he thought. When the word yes" came on the page, he hesitated a moment before he thought, Then...show me, my death. Justin watched the book page as a small square appeared in the middle of the once empty page. Suddenly, what seemed to be a movie, started playing, allowing Justin to see what hed needed to know.
As he watched, the once frozen bus began moving again. James looked as though he was losing control of the bus, starting a chain reaction in the traffic as cars swerved to avoid the bus. He gasped softly when the bus went over the side of the mountain after plowing through the guardrail. As the bus rolled, what appeared to be the bodies of JC & Chris, flew through the windows as the rolling of the bus shattered the windows.
Show myself.
The scene changed & Justin saw himself on the floor, unconscious, having been thrown from his bunk to the floor below. He watched hin shock mixed with disbelief as one of the bunks were knocked from its spot, falling down onto his body below.
At that precise moment, he shut the book, knowing he couldnt watch anymore of the gruesome scene. Suddenly he felt sick, but since he wasnt able to throw up, he knew the sick feeling in his gut would stay with him until he could push everything from his mind.
A few more weeks had passed & even though he had Caitlin to keep him company, it was getting to be not enough to satisfy his need for other human companionship. He tried his best to hide it, but Caitlin had all ready took notice of it & she knew she had to have a word with him about it. She found him by a lake he had created , sitting by the edge, his shirt off & wings out as always. Justin? He didnt turn to face her, but he did lift his head to acknowledge her presence. Might I have a word with you?
Sure... What about?
She sat next to him & brought her knees to her chest. Do you miss the living world?
He nodded. There I have everyone. A great bunch of friends, 2 moms, 2 dads, & 2 little step-brothers who look up to me more than anyone else. Here, no offense, I only have you & a book to answer my questions... A soft sigh escaped his lips. Im 18-years-old & dead... All I keep asking myself is Why?. Or Why me? What did or what didnt I do? I miss my family so much & even though I like it here with you, the feeling wont go away. He ran his fingers through his hair before he looked at her. Since I died so young, Ill never know if I ended up having the family I wished to raise in the future... Ill never know what my life couldve been like after I got home from the tour.
Caitlin closed her eyes. He doesnt belong here. He belongs alive with his friends & family, she thought to herself. He has to go home to them... She let out a soft sigh & ran her fingers over his wing, feeling the soft chenille texture one last time before he yawned & pulled away from her. Justin? she spoke in a tone of concern, though she knew well what was going on.
Im sorry... I just feel like taking a nap, he replied as he lay down by her, wrapping his wings around himself. Stay here with me? he asked, his eyes slowly slipping closed.
