We don't know why so many had to die (We don't know why so many had to die)
Chapter 1
I sat in the front seat of the minivan with my fianc Joel Madden. Cat sat in the back with Benji, her husband. Chelsea was with her husband Billy, Paul and his wife Kat were asleep and the temporary drummer Ryan, also my baby brother, was in the very back. Chris was at his great grandfathers funeral so he couldn't make the appearance on the Late Show.
"Tate, you're awfully quiet. Something wrong?" Joel asked, looking at me for a second.
"Huh? No. Why? I just like to watch out the window." I smiled.
Joel stopped at a red light and looked at me. "You sure? I mean you're never this quiet."
"Joel, just leave her alone and drive." Cat said as the light had been green for five seconds.
Joel sighed and pulled forward into the intersection. I was the only one who saw it coming, a truck ran a red light and collided with us. The van rolled three times. Screams, screeching tires, crunching metal and breaking glass was all I heard.
When the vehicle finally came to a stop I looked over at Joel. He groaned slightly. He and I were covered in blood. The windshield had broken and the glass tore us up. I looked behind me, some movement from my friends. I unfastened my seat belt and crawled out of the van through the windshield that no longer existed.
I limped to the back and tried to open the doors. They were locked from the inside. I covered my eyes and broke the glass out with my elbow, making me bleed even more since I was wearing a sleeveless shirt. I unlocked the doors and pulled them open. I pulled my brother out, he was still breathing... barely. I heard Cat trying to open the side door. I crawled on top of the van, since it was on its side, and helped Cat open the door.
"Cat? Is everyone alright in there?"
"I am. Benji's continuos, as is Paul, Kat, Chels and Billy. But I don't know," Cat had tears in her eyes as she looked over at Joel. " and Joel's not movin'."
"Do you have your cell with you?"
"Yea..."
"Call 911. Tell them to get an ambulance here." I leaned half way into the van as Cat crawled out the front. I looked at Benji his lip, nose and eyebrow were bleeding. "Benj, can you move?"
"Sorta..."
"Can you crawl out the front?"
Benji nodded and moved towards the front. I dropped down carefully into the van. I helped Chelsea out the front, followed by Billy. Kat and Paul had gotten out the back.
The ambulance arrived and got Joel out of the drivers seat. I started crying as they put his limp body on a stretcher. Then my brother. Neither one looked alive.
