Joel cut across the park to avoid where Tatum crashed. He just wanted to be alone with his thoughts and shut out the world.
He ended up back at the house an hour later. He walked into the kitchen and sat at the table. Cat came into the kitchen from the living room and sat next to Joel.
"I never ment to hurt her." Joel wispered.
Cat put a hand on his shoulder. "I know." She paused and tried to look Joel in the eyes. "But, it's a hard thing to forgive."
"I should have tried to make her stay. I told her I didn't care anymore."
Cat fought her tears. "I don't know what to tell you..." Cat sighed and went back into the living room.
Paul walked into the kitchen. "uh... Joel? Tatum asked me to give you this, if anything ever happened to her." He said, handing Joel a note.
"Thanks Paul." He said as he took the small peice of paper. He went to the backporch to read it.
Joel,
I don't have a lot to say. But I truely do love you. If you love me, then I'll always be with you.
I only decided to write this because as I watched you sleeping here next to me, it hit me: I don't ever want to lose you, and if I die then I'll be with you.

A tear fell from Joels eye and smudged the last line. "Short, simple and to the point." He folded the note, put it in his pocket and went back inside.
