Chapter Sixteen

Joel and Benji talked in the hall while Pixley got ready.

"Benj, we gotta call the cops."

"Dude, we can't." Benji rubbed his temples. Pixley opened the door and blushed.

"Joel? Could you help me?"

He stood. "With what?"

Pixley looked at the floor. "The button on the back of my shirt. I can't reach it."

Joel smiled and buttoned it for her. "You look preppy." He pointed to the sky blue dress she was wearing.

"Don't remind me." She rolled her eyes.

Benji stood and looked her over. "Did you borrow that from Heather?"

Pixley nodded. She turned to Joel. "I can't do this."

"Yes, you can. Benj and I'll call the police if anything happens. Remember, Heather got you wired. We can hear everything."

"Yeah, a walky talky. That'll do a lot." She said sarcastically.

Pixley walked down the street to her house. Benji and Joel took the back streets and hid in the bushes in her backyard. Pixley was nervous. She was scared her mother was already dead.

She walked up the front steps and walked into the house. "Hel--" She was grabbed from behind. She tried to scream, but Roy covered her mouth with duct tape and tied her hands.

Pixley was sitting in a chair next to her mother. Her mother was uncontious, but was breathing, barely.

"I can't hear anything." Joel looked in the window.

"Can you see her?"

Joel looked at Benji. "She's sitting in a chair, next to her mom. Roy is pacing the room with a can of...." Joel's eyes widened. "Lighter fluid and a box of matches on the table."

"Shit." Benji cursed. "OK, Heather lives like two blocks away. Go call the cops."

"You do it. I'm going in there." Joel started for the back door, but was brought down by Benji.

"No. He's stronger than you. We'll both go."

"Then who's gonna call the cops?"

"I will." Heather said. "You guys are fun to watch."

Benji looked at her. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming?"

"I didn't think I was. I thought I was gonna stay home and wait to hear from you so I could call the police, but then I thought you two would march in there like two wanna be heroes, so I came," She pulled something from her pocket. "And I brought my cell. So I don't have to run two blocks."

"You're too smart." Benji grinned.

"Are we going?" Joel asked impatiently.

"Yes." Benji got off his stomach and crept towards the backdoor with Joel. The door was slightly open. Joel slipped through followed by Benji.

Roy walked back and forth in front of Pixley. "You've been a very bad girl. Now I'm going to make sure you won't do it again." He opened the top of the lighter fluid. "Liquid fire. Really does wonders."

Pixley started crying. 'Where are you guys?' she thought.

"Oh stop crying! It won't hurt for long." He poured the liquid in a circle around her. Joel crept behind him and jumped Roy. "Get off!" He flung the lighter fluid, trying to get Joel off of him.

"Benji, I could use some help."

Benji came out of the kitchen and help Joel bring Roy to the ground. "So, you like to teach helpless girls a lesson?"

Pixley hopped in her chair and gave Benji a death glare. "Sorry." He turned back to Roy.

Joel punched Roy. "It's not gonna happen ever again."

"You little bastards. Get off me!"

The door burst open. Policemen entered and pulled the twins off of Roy. Heather walked in and hugged Benji. "How'd they get here so fast?"

"My uncle is the cheif of police." Heather smiled.

Joel untied Pixley. She pulled the tape off her mouth. "Ow. I'm not helpless, Benjiman. Just taken by surprise."

"I know."

She and Joel untied her mom. "Mom? You OK?"

"Fine." She whispered.
