Pixley sat in detention between Benji and Joel. Jessica sat in the back still complaining very loudly about her nose that wasn't broken.
"I didn't break your nose." Pixley said, still facing the front of the room.
"I'm gonna sue. My uncle is a lawer."
Pixley turned around to face Jessica. "No 'e's not! I've met all 2 of your uncles."
Jessica stuck out her tongue and crossed her arms.
Benji turned to look at Jessica. "You are so childish. That's why you're here in the first place. So put your forked tongue back in your head."
"Benji, don't encourage her." Pixley put a hand on Benji's shoulder.
Joel just tapped his fingers on the desk while looking at the clock every five seconds. "Just tell me it's five o'clock so I can go home." He told the clock.
"The clock isn't real, stupid." Jessica smirked.
"Shut up!" The three said in unison. Joel strummed his fingers faster and faster, Benji bobbed his head to a tune only he could hear and Pixley tapped her foot to sone tune that was going through her head.
"What're we doing after we're outta here?" Joel asked, looking at Pixley.
She looked up. "Huh?" She was too busy consentrating on her own thoughts to hear what Joel had said.
"What are we doing after we're outta here?" He repeated.
"Oh, uh, I dunno." She shrugged. "The uh, skate park is open? Or the uh, regular park? Or the stupidest sudgestion of the night: the library."
"You actually spend time at those places? My God, Pixley, you are a loser." Jessica laughed.
Benji stopped bobbing his head and glared at the clock. "C'mon, you peice of shit. I can't stand this place anymore."
Jessica sat in her chair, grinning. All of a sudden she started singing: "Freaks. Freaks. You're all freaks. Plus you're geeks. Geeks and freaks. Losers. Posers. Freaky punks. Little chunks. You're all three freaks who aren't loved..."
Mr Smith came into the class room to tell the students they could go home when he heard Jessica singing her freak song. "Miss Zeiner!"
"Mr Smith."
"Miss Zeiner, would you like to be suspended?"
"No Sir." She shook her head.
"Then I sudgest you stop telling people they are freaks. You three may leave." He poimted to Joel, Benji and Pixley. "As for you m\Miss Zeiner. I'd like you to stay so we can talk." He didn't sound too happy.
Benji stood from his chair and gave Pixley an arm. Joel took her other arm. They walked out of the class room side ways.
"So, where do we go?" Joel asked.
"Let's go to the park. It's quiet there around this time of night." Benji smiled at Pixley.
"Sounds good. Just lemme call my mom." She stopped at the school office and dialed her mom's work number. She hung up. "OK, we can go, as lomg as your moms OK with it."
Benji nodded, grabed the phone and called home. "Alright, let's go." Benji smiled as he hung up the phone.
Joel snaked his arm around Pixley's waist as they walked out the door. They got in the car but it wouldn't start.
Joel looked at the wheel then tried again. "Turn over. Turn over. Please?" The car refused to start. Joel dropped his head on the wheel. "I hate this car."
Pixley rubbed his shoulders. "C'mon, we can walk to the park. The car'll still be here in the morning."
Joel didn't pay attention to what she was saying. He only focussed on the movement of Pixley's fingers. When Pixley stopped messaging Joel, he looked up and became fully alert. "Yeah, walk."
Benji chuckled and got out of the car. He helped Pixley out of the car and smiled. Joel slowly got out of the car.
"OK, let's go." Pixley smiled. A twin on each arm, Pixley grinned as they started walking to the park.
"So, Pix. Tomorrow is Saturday, do you wanna do somethin'?" Joel asked, smiling at her.
"I don't know. It'd be nice to be outta the house."
"You're always out of your house." Benji stated, poking her side. Pixley grimmaced and grabbed her side. "Oh my God. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"I'm... OK." She took a deep breath. "I fell out of bed this morning and landed on something."
"Oh my God. Pixley, you're bleeding."
She looked at her hand, covered in blood. She was pail. "I'm fine."
Joel knew she wasn't fine. "No you're not."
"Yeah, I am." She barely said the last word as she fell into Benji's arms.
"Dude. This isn't good." Benji said. He picked up Pixley. She was limp, pail and bleeding.
"Thank you captain obvious. Where is the hospital?"
"Other side of town."
"Shit!" Joel scatched his head. "OK, we'll just carry her there."
Benji adjusted Pixley in his arms and started walking. They carried Pixley about three blocks and saw Heather in her car. "Heather!"
"Hey... guys. What happened?!" Heather jumped out of her car leaving at a green light.
"Benji poked her, just having fun, and she was bleeding and uhn!" Joel said frantically pointing to the uncontious Pixley.
