The basic two general rules are as follows:
1. Use commonly available hardware and the open source community to develop the system.
2. Make this system at an economical price.
Various different web sites that I have looked at have installed a computer into a automobile but none have, in my opinion, integrated the system to interact with the actual car. My hopes in this design are to help spread a computers power from just MP3's and GPS navigation, but to include engine management and real time data.
