| LONG AFTER
long after you're gone I find myself standing still, arms empty, staring into the cold december night along the road repeated image and I know there's a train waiting at the station and I know there's a road you're walking and there's no return.. yet I watch you leaving.. leaving all behind and I can't call your name my voice died with your last kiss but I answer the taxi driver questions I can only suppose he'd ask a stranger on a cold december night.. long after you're gone the morning reveals faces and roads never known lost in time fall asleep uncertain why.. repeated image of the night we first kissed your first step my first wound and not one snowflake and now a tear falls long after you're gone d.j., 2005 |
