This Herbie resides in the VW Museum in Wolfsburg, Germany. It is not correct, because it is a 1965! It says "Herbie, Gross in Farht" on the sides. It also has a little "Herbie" written on each front side panel. The license plate is different. E-mail me for more photos of this car. It has big windows, and has a black steering wheel. It is very wrong. I think that this car was in the "Herbie on Parade" parade at Disneyland, used to promote "Herbie Rides Again". Then, I think, it was auctioned at a lottery. BTW...the kid in the last picture is not me.

This is Albert Heiles' REAL Herbie. This is the car where Herbie flips over in the El Dorado (The Love Bug, 1969). The roof was bent out of shape, so the rear window is Plexiglas! The car was GOING to be used in Rides Again (see my Rides Again Details page), but the scene was cut. It went to a museum then, then to Daryll Adams. He restored it. Then it went back to the Hannah Auto Museum, in CA. The decals and stripes are like the ones from Herbie on Ice.

Here is a real Herbie from a Hot VWs Classified Ad. It was used in Herbie on Ice. Who bought this car, I don't know.

This Herbie was auctioned around 1996. It was used in the Love Bug and Monte Carlo. It opens its doors with a flip of a switch!

This is an original Herbie. It was for sale. I don't know who had it or who bought. I heard that this is the defining Herbie car, the one that is shown in the first movie at Thorndyke's dealership when Jim is inside, after he bumped his head and looked at the Thorndyke Special. There is writing on the windshield. I couldn't read it, but the person who gave me the pic said it says:
1963 Volkswagen Herbie Beetle
Original Movie Car
*defining car!*
That is what it looks like, line and space-wise, but look at the rear view mirror. It's some aftermarket thing. Any ideas on this?
