| Message for ATR mailing list: This is Alec Empire from Digital Hardcore Recordings! First of all I wanted to say much respect and thanks for your support! There are so many lies and rumours about us going around- that it makes mailing lists and webpages that give the real information even more important! For the musicians and producers here in Berlin it is very frustrating to see certain people on the net behaving so stupidly. I talked to everyone in the last year about it and there is a common opinion that there only idiots nowadays running around on the net (that was one reason why we stopped taking care of our webpage for so long) you know it's disillusioning when again and again the same idiots go on about issues like "what is underground?" etc, etc. It's boring and lame. Everybody at DHR puts all passion, blood, energy and time into what they do! People even fuck themselves up for these ideas and they burn out badly and then to see some bored fucking kid sitting in front of his/her computer thinking of conspiracy theories because they watched X-Files the day before. There are a lot of people questioning the integrity of people who are really trying to make the difference today, like DHR or all of the others in the underground (that fact can turn anyone here into a mass-hating cynical little fascist!) But your work already is helping to make a difference and to change this! We will try to get involved more on your side (at the moment everyone here is making a lot of music) and sometimes we don't have enough time but we will try a bit harder, ok? And the music is why we are all here. I hope you guys understand and at least every month we will try to answer the most important questions that members of the club and bombsquad have. We will send you new photos, live screenshots, new logos etc! DHR headquarter Berlin: Nic Endo, Virus and me take care of all artwork from now on (ok, Nic Endo and me have done all artwork since MISS BLACK AMERICA (this and Alec vs.Elvis were our first), also the 2000 60 Second Wipe Out version (that includes the video material from last years 1st May demonstration and "Revolution Action"), the DHR magazine Pt.2 (the new issue will be ready very soon) Nic does all Fatal artwork (Hanin Elias, Lolita Storm, White Heat, She-Satelites), all the GEIST releases (upcoming soon : ROPE "It's no fun to compute", and HANYOs album with collaborations with Merzbow, Christoph De Babalon, and many more). We plan to change the DHR webpage in the next two-three weeks also. We didn't care at all about it in the last years (because it seemed that people just use email and mailing lists to be negative about us. We see a very, very different side when we throw parties or play shows. This kind of why we've been reluctant to deal with 20 people who are not cool because we can deal with hundreds every night that have a cool vibe. The good thing is that it seems these rumors and gossip only happen if people don't have the real information (best example is DHR vs. Elektra nobody fucking knew anything but everybody assumed that it was a typical sell out thing) Sometimes these people forget that we have been doing this it since 1992 and we actually financed DHR out of the aborted ATR/Phonogram deal! So we are not as stupid as some naysayers would have you believe or other (not to be named here) American punk bands who stepped into that trap. We took the money to set up DHR US and to be independent from Grand Royal. We didn't sell out and now perhaps we all can move the fuck on before more of that MTV shit takes over everything! Just when you think it can't get worse, let me guarantee you it will, and it will get much worse. In the future there will be DJ mixes, weekly updates, videos from all the shows and parties, unreleased tracks etc., etc., (it just sometimes takes a bit longer than we thought, but you know that I guess from your own work!) There will also be a lot of new music soon! What I heard so far over here is great. Some people always want us to do the same records over and over again we are used to that, when we did "Harder Than The Rest" in 1995 people were upset and wanted us to do Riot Beat type Jungle, when we did "The Future of War" they wanted us to do "Harder Than The Rest Pt.2" and when we did "60 Second Wipe Out" they wanted us to do "Burn Berlin Burn Pt.2" - so whatever, we decided years ago that we were going to do what we wanted to do with no thought to restrictions. That seems to be the only way... We are excited over here and a lot of new shit is happening. It can't be right that so many cool people are turned off the internet activity because of a few idiots, Now we have the chance to change that! (I really mean that!) Yeah! If we (all) don't turn it on and let everyone know the real deal nobody else will! More Soon, ALEC EMPIRE THE DESTROYER Berlin, 2000-05-16 (PS: One last thing I don't check my email on a regular basis, so if I can't come back to you straight away and it's important then contact your person at DHR - OK? | ||
