Ongoing Israeli incursions

Sharon and the rise of the Israeli labor movement

The allure of fascism on the current Prime Minister of Israel, Israel Sharon, is well documented. To him, the popularity of the Peace Process among the Israeli working class was a sign of growing labor militancy under Ehud Barak; and Sharon takes every step to bring to power a more authoritarian state to quell this. First, he staged the provocation of the Aksa mosque. (In this, we now know, he was helped by Ehud Barak, who, at Camp David, did nothing to stop Sharon's march, saying it was an an "internal affair.")

Sharon's ongoing persuit of violence is meant to foster fear in the eyes of the Israeli working class and thus foster support for his more authoritarian state.
