The process to install some Arabic fonts in a Macintosh so that you can read Arabic text on an interntet browser like Netscape, Telnet, or Internet Explorer--or read Arabic that someone has put in a Word 5.1a document--is as follows. This explanation is from a little file called qurantranslations.hqx, which one can get, --and then allow your stuffit expander to open--, from:
ftp://mirrors.aol.com/mac/misc/foreignlang/qurantranslations.hqx
I think this method would install fonts also in sys. 8.5, but the other way would be to download the fonts disk from the Apple Arabic sys. 7.0.1 and drag one or two of them on top of the System Folder and click "OK" when the mac asks if you want to put them in the Fonts folder.

ARABIZATION OF THE MAC
The Arabic text of the Quran can be processed by installing the Arabic resources in System 7.0 (or 7.01, 7.1). These resources are present in the installer disk of Arabic system 7.01 available freely from ftp.apple.com in their dts directory. The following steps can be followed to install Arabic resources (note: you only need disk one (image 1) of the full Arabic System 7.01 disk set).

1) ftp the file install.1.image from the Arabic system directory, It should be somwhere in the dts/mac/sys.soft/... I dont remeber the full path (if you cant do this let me know I might be able to help you there).
2) Create the disk image using the diskcopy application (diskcopy is also available from ftp.apple.com site, in dts/mac/tools/.. )
3) Note: you need to have the system 7, 7.01, 7.1 installed on your machine before you can proceed with the next step.
Boot from the install disk and it will request to install the Arabic resources in your System folder (ofcourse in arabic). Dont worry it wont replace your original system with arabic system. It will only install the resources and when you reboot the machine, a small flag will appear next to your finder icon (on the right side of the screen).
4) After this installation you can open the quran files, and they will display the Arabic text properly. The flag icon lets you switch between Arabic script and Roman script.
