The City of Dublins web site is a good start but it can be improved to provide residents with easier online public access to city administrators, services and vital information.
1. There appears to be no way to contact the city government via the internet from the citys web site. No email addresses or contact/comment forms where a resident may submit comments or concerns to the city administrators via the internet. The Laurens County web site contains email addresses of administrators and elected officials:
http://www.laurenscoga.org/departments.htm
http://www.laurenscoga.org/
Contact page for Madison GA with email addresses of administrators and staff.
http://www.madisonga.com/site/page3661.html
City of Marietta Services, including Online Bill Pay, the City's e-mail newsletter, and City contact information for citizens and businesses
Site includes email addresses of City Council members and
a periodic E-newsletter.
http://www.city.marietta.ga.us/
2. To improve communication between the City Government and Dublin residents, we suggest that an electronic email distribution list be created. Residents could then subscribe to the list and receive announcements and information from the city government and its boards and departments. Note that the City of Marietta distributes a periodic E-newsletter. http://www.city.marietta.ga.us/
3. The city government is not using the web calendar effectively. Only the city council meetings are posted on the calendar. We suggest the other information including Planning and Zoning Board meetings as well as meetings of community organizations should be posted on the web calendar. http://www.cityofdublin.org/Calendar/Calendar.asp
4. There is no access to forms and applications on the web site. We suggest that forms and applications for city employment, automatic bank draft, business licenses, building permits, rezoning requests, etc. should be available on the web site. See the many forms and applications available on the Waycross Georgia Website:
http://www.waycrossga.com/online_forms.htm
Also, forms and applications may be downloaded from the Laurens County web site:
http://www.laurenscoga.org/forms.htm
5. All the Zoning Ordinances of the City of Dublin should be posted on the web site along with the Dublin Code of Ordnances that is already posted. The web site is a very good way to make information readily accessible to Dublin Residents. For example, the Assessor of Laurens County provides web access to a wealth of information on property at http://www.co.laurens.ga.us/. |
