The Western Maryland Rail Trail and the C & O Towpath are only a few hundred feet apart in Hancock. A loop trip of about 20 miles can be made in either direction using the two trails. The WMRT is paved but we needed mountain bikes on the C&O Towpath. There is a bike store a short distance from the trail. Hancock has sever places to stay and to eat. The Bike Washington site has a list.
