Eliza Furnace Trail, Pittsburgh

The Eliza Furnace Trail is a three mile trail between Oakland and downtown Pittsburgh with good views of downtown Pittsburgh.This trail is near busy highways and goes past commercial sections of Pittsburgh. One part is between the two sides of the I376 expressway. The good thing about the trail is that it is good flat trail to downtown and connections with the other trails. Anything flat and away from heavy traffic is a bargain in Pittsburgh. In the future, there will be a connection at about the halfway point to the trail on the south side of the Monogahela River. This will connect to the Youghioghenny Trail and make it possible to bicycle from downtown Pittsburgh to the Maryland border.
