The path became more upscale and busy with restaurants in Pittsfield, so it was routed into the street.
This must have been a bustling canal port in the early 1900's. What is now the Schoen Place restaurant
was a coal storage building and behind are grain storage elevators. The old canal boaters would be
shocked to see it now.
