To make the return trip, cross the bridge from Uhlerstown, PA to Frenchtown, NJ. The northern end of the Delaware and Raritan Feeder Canal Towpath is a short distance from the bridge. Frenchtown is a good place to eat lunch; it isn't as touristy or expensive as many of the nearby towns. The canal towpath is as smooth and wide on the New Jersey side as it is on the Pennsylvania side. In general, the ride in Pennsylvania is prettier and more interesting; the canal is narrow, the path has many turns, it passes close to pretty houses and gardens and there is much variety.
