Most of the route is not too hilly; there is a long but not very steep hill on Washington St. and Groton Road between Groton and Ayer. This could be avoided by using the bike path between Ayer and Broad Meadow St. or Sand Hill Rd.

This route goes through the pretty center of Groton; Rt. 119 here, is the only road having heavy traffic. South of Groton the route passes a pretty area of apple orchards; there is one with a stand that makes a pleasant stop. North of Groton, the route is not very hilly. One of the prettiest roads along the route is River St. in Dunstable. Taking the road one way gives a different idea of the coutryside and towns.
